Strategic Growth Plan
The Inclusive Strategic Growth Plan for Derry and Strabane sets out the way forward for all economic, social and environmental growth for the City and District over the next 15 years.
The Growth Plan is the result of the biggest public consultation campaign to be held here in the North West, with workshops and engagement sessions held in all eight District Electoral Areas and Strabane Town to fully gauge the hopes and aspirations of local people right across the District.
The final Plan was published on November 6th 2017, and identifies a range of outcomes and objectives which have been prioritised as essential drivers for delivering inclusive growth and equality here.
By 2032 this ambitious strategy forecasts that the required investment of £3.4bn will deliver 15,100 new jobs, 10,000 additional people, £203m additional wages and £1.1bn additional GVA. This economic stability will in turn bring with it the health and lifestyle benefits for local people currently affected by high levels of poverty and unemployment.
The plan has been devised to align with key strategies for the entire region, including the Programme for Government, the North West Regional Partnership, the Local Development Plan and the eight Local Community Plans. It will also inform the ongoing discussions towards progressing the delivery of a City Deal or Growth Deal for the District.
